Question 1.What do you think often causes traffic accidents?
Any traffic can cause the accident if it travels too fast.
Question 2.What should you do when you see a traffic accident ?
You must call the policeman and dial 122 or 120.You can take the patient to the hospital. Then let the students tell their own stories of when they have either actually been in an accident or seen one or know someone who has been in one. Ask several students to share their own stories.

People in the story are : Li Lei, Lin Tao, Lucy, Wei Hua, the gate keeper, the motorbike driver, Miss Zhao.

1. Li Lei and the other students saw the accident. He asked the two girls to stop the traffic, and he carried the man with Lin Tao to the gate keeper. Then he went to find Miss Zhao and telephoned the police.
2. Lin Tao helped Li Lei to carry the man to the gate keeper and then moved the bag away from the road with the gate keeper.
3. Lucy and Wei Hua stopped the traffic at the corner.
4. The gate keeper asked Li Lei to find a teacher and moved the bag away with Lin Tao.
5. The driver drove too fast and hit the bag and was hurt.
6. Miss Zhao got a medicine box and went to look after the man.

Mr. Young works in a city. He has a son called Richard. The boy is eight and studies at school. Last week school was over and Richard wouldn’t stay in the hot city and wanted to go to the cool village to see his grandparents and be on holiday there. Mr. Young had to take him there. On their way, a traffic accident happened. Their bus was going very fast. Suddenly the driver saw that an old woman was crossing the road . He tried to stop the bus, but it was too late. She was knocked down and soon died, and the bus hit a big tree and was badly damaged。
The people in the bus had to get off and stay in a small hotel over night. Mr. Young wouldn’t let Richard see the dead woman but the little boy saw everything.
After supper they both felt tired, Mr. Young moved his bed close to the boy’s and turned off the light. A few minutes’ later Richard said, “It’s very dark in the room, isn’t it ?”
Of course the man understood what Richard meant. He said,“Yes, but everything all right.” After a few more minutes’ silence a small hand reached over and took Mr. Young’s. “I’m holding your hand,” said the boy , “in case you are afraid!”
