The Style of the Course A new lesson
Teaching Methods: Read and act, ask and answer.
Teaching Aids: CAI and some real objects
Teaching Aims and Demands:
1.      knowledge: How to telephone SB and how to use simple future tense.
2.      Ability: Develop the students’ ability of using the simple future tense.
The important points:
1.     The new words and expressions of four skills.
2.     The simple future tense.
The difficult points:
  Help the students to understand and use the simple future tense.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 A duty report
T: What will you tell is today, student A?
S: Today I’ll tell you a funny story. Please listen to me carefully, I’ll ask you some questions after the story.
T: OK.
Step 2 Revision
T: What’s the date today?
S: It’s December the fifth.
T: What’s the weather like?
S: It’s very cold , but quite sunny.
T: How cold it is today!
S: Yes, but it’ll be warmer later on.
T: What a cold day!
S: Yes, and it’ll get colder, I’m afraid.
 
Step 3 Presentation
T: Let’s watch the video. It’s about how to make a phone, then you’ll watch several conversation by telephone. You’ll learn how the foreigners telephone the others in English.
T: All right. When you call somebody and introduce yourself, you should say:” This is --- or this is --- speaking.”  When you want to know who picks up the phone , you should ask “ Who’s that?”
 
Step 4 Listening
1 T: Now listen to the tape and try to understand it. I’ll ask two questions.
(1)              What’s the weather like in Xinjiang?
(2)              Why is the fruit is very sweet there?
Answer:
(1)              It’s cold in the morning but turns very warm at noon, it also very dry.
(2)              Because the weather.
2 Listen again and teach the new words :
 
ring, strange, sunshine, melon
 
 
Step 5 Practice
T: Open your books and read the dialogue.
Answer the following question according to the dialogue.
1.     What’s the relationship between Bruce and the person whom he is speaking to?
2.     Where is Bruce and where is Dad?
3.     What’s the weather like in Xinjiang and in Sydney?
4.     How about Bruce’s health, and what about his father?
5.     What kinds of fruit does Bruce like very much?
6.     What are his parents going to do?
7.     Are they very happy to talk by telephone?
Keys:
1.     They are son and father.
2.     Bruce is in Xinjiang, China , his father is in Sydney, Australia.
3.     It’s cold in the morning, but turns very warm at noon in Xinjiang. It’s warm and sunny in Sydney.
4.     Bruce is very well and his father is fine, too.
5.     He likes the grapes and melons very much.
6.     They are going to hike.
7.     Yes, they are.
(Now ask the students to prepare for several minutes and let them act out the conversation in pairs.)
 
Step 6  Part 2
1.     Teach the new words:
North, south, northeast, northwest, radio, report, at times, temperature, below-above.
 
 
2.T: Let’s do some exercises about the simple future tense , please fill in the blanks with the simple future tense.
Most of North and South China     (have) a cold wet day. It     (be)cloudy at times. There    be a strong wind to the north of the Huai River. The day after tomorrow    (be)Sunny.
   In the Northeast it     (be)fine. The temperature    (stay)above zero in the daytime, but at night it     (fall) below zero again. In the Northwest, there      (be)snow in the night. The snow    (be)very heavy in some places.
   Beijing     be rainy. The temperature         (be) 2 to 9. Tianjin     (be) cloudy and the high temperature will be.

Step 7 Presentation
T: We did one exercise about a radio report of the weather in Spring just now. Now let’s open your books and look at Part2, listen to the tape and read after it .
T: very good. Could you read it again?
 
Language points:

Most of Canada will have a fine day.

I go to the school library at times.
3.a strong wind
There is a strong wind in Beijing now.
4.stay above zero
The temperature will stay above zero in the daytime.
5.fall below zero
The temperature will fall below zero at night, let the students make a new one.

1.     Read the dialogue and the text freely.
2.     Make a radio report of the weather in winter.
课前值日生报告的形式,可以激发学生预习的积极性,也是掌握大量课外知识的一种有效途径。
 
Have a free talk形式,可保证学生正确而迅速地说出下文,增强学生的信心,人人都能开口说。
 
 
 
让学生看题,分小组讨论,提高他们的参与性及运用理解语言的能力,还可锻炼他们的团结协作精神。
 
此处可截一段碟,内容是西方人打电话时常用语,让学生模仿或创设新的语言环境,此处可用电话机(实物)让学生有身临其境之感,刺激学生的视听感觉,提高记忆力。
画面出现Father和Bruce动画组,配以原文录音,视听效果极佳,让学生有最大限度的发挥积极性,主动性,参与性。
此处CAI设置反复键,再放一遍,这个过程可边放边停,教授生词,节省板书时间,视听说结合提高记忆力。
 
 
此处运用合适的字体写进CAI中利用大屏幕
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
此处CAI做中国地图标出来东西南北四个方位,教授生词,学生很容易理解,一目了然,还起呈上启下的作用,马上讲解中国的全国天气预报。
 
此处CAI中,用合适的字体打出来习题,学生笔头做,教师检查时,可把答案先设置好,然后操纵鼠标,并设置音乐,音乐同字体同时出现,有声音,有字体,边听边看,印象深刻。
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
此处可让学生提出疑问,学生回答,教师作适当补充,锻炼学生学习的主动性.
