一、      General Design For Unit 5

    1、在本单元的英语教学中,继续依照新大纲的要求:“ 巩固 、 扩大学生的基础知识 ,发展听 、说 、读 、写的基本技能 ,培养在口头上和书面上初步运用英语进行交际的能力,侧重培养阅读能力 本着单元教学环节的整体性原则 ,重点把握单元内容的完整性、结构的连续性、训练的渐进性和能力的多样性。以话题“Advertising”为中心,把握每课教学的重点内容,多角度、多方位地培养学生听、说、读、写能力,同时在教学过程中,有效的组织、引导学生积极参与课堂教学活动中来,熟练掌握并运用本单元所涉及的交际用语以及相关语法、词汇知识。能够用口头、书面的形式来表达自己的思想 。   

2、在 第17课Dialogue 教学中,教师围绕给计算机产品作广告这一情景,让学生通过读---问答 、听---问答 、听 ---跟读、角色朗读、角色扮演、自由对话等教学步骤,培养学生在口头上初步运用有关“同意与反对”的交际用语能力。 

3.在第18课教学中,突出阅读理解这一中心 ,从整体理解 入手,到搜集有关Advertising的资料,通过听---问答 (导入)、略读---问答、细读---问答、讨论等活动,来培养和提高学生的英语阅读理解能力。运用本课所学的语言点,围绕广告的作用这一题材,确切理解课文Advertising ,了解广告的一般常识及其作用。同时学习一些有关的语言知识。  

   (1)、在第19课 教学中,通过Advertising(2)的学习进一步培养学生独立阅读能力。同时通过Practice对‘过去分词’这一语法现象进行练习,提高学生对有关词语和语言结构的应用。(04教育资源网,转载请注明)

   (2)、在第20课的教学中,有效地利用听力练习,培养学生听要点、听细节等方面的技能,并通过Writing 让学生进一步熟悉商业书信的格式,通过应用本单元所获取的信息和语言知识,能够正确地写商业信函.

二.Teaching aims and requirements:

1.Revise the ways of ordering in a cafe

l       Have you ordered yet?

l       Would you like something to eat/drink?

l       Anything to follow?

l       Help yourself to some…

2. Learn to use news words and expressions: 

 telegram  express  satisfaction  jokingly  advantage  blame luggage  tense  bring in  hand in hand  try out  think up  have an effect on

3. Learn to use the communicative items correctly and properly

4. Read the passages about “Advertising” Get the students to know the knowledge of “Advertising”. Train the students to be effective readers.

Teaching aims and requirements:

1.Learn to use the following words and expressions :

l       What exactly are you suggesting?

l       No problem.

Teaching steps:

I. Revision:

1.Check the homework exercises

2..Make comments on the mid-term exam

II. Presentation:

1.Have a free talk with the Ss about the topic of the units

First give the Ss a few ads by O.H.P (overhead projector)

T: Do you watch these advertisements on outline?

Ss: Yes , of course .

T: Which are your favorite advertisements?

  Why do companies advertise?

T: How do the people in the advertising firm complete their future advertising program? Today we’ll read a dialogue about this.

III. Reading:

1.   Let the Ss read it and find out the answer to this question.

T: Whose ideas for the advertising program are the best?

   (Bob’s ideas)

2.   Speech Cassette Lessons 17. Play the tape of the dialogue for the Ss to listen and follow. Go through the dialogue briefly and make sure the Ss understand some new words.

3.   Focus the Ss attention on some expressions for “Agreement or Disagreement” (write down on the Bb)

AGREEMENT:

It is a good idea to do…

I agree with …  I agree

No problem

Of course

That’s true /right.

I think so

DISAGREEMENT:

 

Do you really think so?

I’m afraid I can’t agree with

I don’t agree with you.

I don’t think that

4.Language study:

l       I think it would be a good idea to do something.

--- I’m afraid I’m putting on weight.

  --- I think it would be a good idea to keep on doing morning  exercises .

--- He’s nice, but he’s very quiet. He seldom says anything.

 ---What can you advertise?

 ---We can advertise products of all kinds.

l       I suggest that we ask users of this machine what they think about it.

1.   Get the Ss to look at SB. Page 25. Part 2 in pairs. Its aim of this activity is to give the Ss an opportunity to have a free discussion and to speak fluency.

2.   Encourage the Ss to use the expressions : “agreement or disagreement”

3.   Choose one or two pairs to act the scene in front of the class.

  V. Workbook:

    1. WB Lesson 17 Ex.1. Get the SS to revise the dialogue in lesson 17 before they do Ex 1. Then call out some of them to read aloud the passage and correct the mistakes if any. If things go smoothly, ask the students to retell the story .

   2. WB Lesson 17 Ex.2. Get the Ss to do it first in close pairs, then in open pairs. Encourage different answers, not only those introduced in step5.

  VI. Homework:

   1. Finish off the Workbook Exercises.

2.Vocabulary preparation in lesson 18 “Advertising”
