Activity:Watch VCD about the scenery of Australia and the special animals in Australia.

Questions:

1.What’s the name of the famous building?

(Kangroos and koala bears)

3.What do you think of the scenery and the animals?

(The scenery is beautiful and attrative.The animals are lovely very much.)

T:Speaking of koala bears and kangroos,do you know how they got their names?In the native language,koala means“don’t drink water” and kangroo means“I can’t follow you,”These two words have their special origins.And their origins are connected with the earlier settlers in Australia.Today,we are going to learn something about the native people in Australia.

What’s the text about?

Australia was discovered about 53,000years ago.Kooris were the first people into Australia.They lived by fishing,hunting animals and gethering fruits.After they were treated unfairly.The populationof kooris decreased sharply.

How are things today?

Things are getting better,we can see this from the pictures.The native artists are performing on the stage for the people all over the world.Theirtraditions are being valued.

Purpose:Get a general understanding of the text.
