  Do you know what is pollution? Give me your examples and what damage is caused pollution? Is it much too serious or slight? None read the three passages and try to find the answers to the questions.

Step Four: making rates: (ten minutes)

A、 Many part …deserts. This sentence has a long attributive clause in the middle of it. Help the Ss by splitting the sentence into two components:1) Many parts of the word have become deserts.2)They once had large populations and produced plenty of crops.

B、 Populations: Most frequently population is used in the singular. Here, however, we are talking about different parts of the world each with its own population hence the use of the plural.

C、 Deep in the heart of : in the middle of

D、Cattle: a collective new, not used in the plural.

E、 Good years: years when conditions for farming are good. i、e、there is enough rain and there is little disease.

G、One suggested answer … cattle. =There is one possible way of dealing with this program: farmers should limit the numbers of their cattle. Point out the phrase for someone to do something.
