Teaching Steps:
Step 1: 1 minute free talk before the class
Call two students to make a free talk according to the material the teacher gives
Step 2: Let’s watch TV to find out the answer to the question. Close your books, listen to it carefully, grasp the general idea and answer the Question.
Step 3:Ask one question: Which is the better diet about Chinese food and Western food?
Why?Answer:Chinese food is the better diet.
Chinese food contains a lot of fruit and vegetables and is rich in fibre and low in sugar.
Western food contains too much fat and sugar in the form of cakes, butter and chocolate.
Step 4:Reading:Ask the students themselves to read the text and grasp the general idea.Give the students five minutes.
Step 5:Explain the points to the students
a. foods: food is countable in scientific terms.
b. fibre: the texture of foods that helps us with our digestion
c. burning up calories=using calories
d. take exercise:walking,running and other physical activity
e. put on weight=becomeh eavier and fatter
f. in the form of: This phrase introduces specific examples(e.g. potato crisps)of a
g. general group(foods containing a lot of fat or sugar)
h. potato crisps: small pieces of fried potato(similar to Chinese shrimp crisps)
i. soft drinks: e.g. cola,fizzy orange..
Step 6:Retel the whole text 4 times
According to the keys words and the pictures,ask the students to learn by heart.
The first time,the teacher speaks himself. The students listen to the teacher.
The second time, the teacher speaks in a loud voice. The students speak in a low voice.
