I’m cooking dinner (mime) .Here’s my pan, and I put in some oil. Now I turn on the gas .Good The oil’s getting hotter .Then someone knocks at the door ,I go to answer the door and I forget to turn off the door .I go to answer the door and I forget to turn off the gas ,What’s going to happen ? Encourage the Ss to try to answer . Say Yes, the oil will catch fire (mime).Ask What should I do ?See if the Ss can make suggestions.

Step3 Reading

SB Lesson 61,Part 1,Read the introduction to the Ss and then say Now read the dialogue silently and find out what Jenny tells Yang Pei to do . Allow the Ss a few moments to carry out the task. Check the answer (fire is out).

Step4 Dialogue

Speech Cassette Lesson 61. Play the tape of the dialogue for the Ss to listen and follow. Go through the dialogue briefly and make sure the Ss understand it .(Explain In that case = If that happens.) Play the take again .This time the Ss listen and repeat. Then let the Ss practice the dialogue in pairs. Encourage them to use suitable gestures. You wish to ask one pair to act the scene in front of the class.

 A  Take care.=Be careful.

 B   Is the fire out? If there are no flames, the fire is out Opposite :Is the fire still burring ?

 C  You might … burning oil: If you carried the pan out of the kitchen, you might get  burnt by the fire and you might drop the pan . Might here indicates possibility.
