Teaching Methods:  the Communicative  Approach.

Step1. Greetings and duty report.

          Get the Ss on duty to tell a story about planting trees.

Step2. Reading

           1).Look at the picture.What are the women doing?(They're planting trees.)

             Why are they planting trees?  Can you guess? (To grow a new forest.)

           2).Today we're going to read some village people. They decided to grow some               new trees. Let's find out why.(To keep the soil from being carried away and people

can have wood for firewood).Read the passage  and answer this question: What

has changed in the past few years?

           3).Draw two columns on the Bb.Allow the Ss several minutes to read the   

passage and then collect the answers:

 In the past:

                a. no trees left

                b. people walked a long way to fetch wood

                c.when it rained,the soil was carried awa

                d.no trees were planted.

 Today:

                a.forest programme            b.plant thousands of trees

                c.not allowed to cut down small trees

                d. look after the forests       e.the forests have grown,larger and better.

           4).Look through the questions, and read the text carefully,try to answer

               them.Then check the answers with the whole class.

           5).Listen to the tape and then explain the whole text.

        a. trees grow thickly=lots of trees are growing there.

        b. even in the village itself=It's unusual to find trees inside a village.

        c.in or around=in the neighbourhood of a place.

        d. forest programme=careful plans for looking after the forests.

        f. obey =do what you are told to do.

Step 4. Retell

           1). Get the Ss to retell the text.

          2).What can we learn from the text? Let's discuss the significance of planting                            trees and forests.

Step 5. Summary

          Get the Ss to sum up the whole period.

Step 6. Homework

          Finish off the workbook.
