Teaching Aims: 1.Knowledge aim  （知识目标）

                  1).Learn to use the following words and phrases

                  2).Grammar: Learn to use "whenever =no matter when"

                                       Participles as adverbial modifiers

                  To improve the student's reading  and speaking ability.

                  Let the Ss discuss the reasons why many animals and plants on the earth are dying out.Get them to know that all living things are in danger ,including humans themselves.Certainly the most important reason is the part that humans have played.

Teaching importance: To develop the student's reading comprehension and their speaking ability--- to express themselves freely.

Step 1. Greetings

        A report about pollution around us ,better with picture

Step 2. Check the homework exercises. Ask the Ss to explain"chemical Rain".

            Explain how it is caused and what its results are.

Step 3. Preparations for reading

        1).Showing video pictures of animal and plant lives long ago (Dinosaurs,thick forests, clear rivers and seas)

        2).Showing another set of video pictures of animal and plant lives nowadays         

3).Ask the Ss what is the difference about animal and plant life between millions of years ago and nowadays.

            Long ag    Plenty of animals and plants

            Nowadays:   Much fewer of them

          Tell the Ss we are going to read about animals in danger .Read the passage quickly  and find the answer to this question: Why are there so few tigers in China today?(Forests have been destoryed;tigers hunted and killed)

Step 4. Reading and discussing

           1.Get the Ss read it carefully and find out their doubts.

           2.Go through the passage with the Ss, Answer the following questions:

            (!).How many kinds of living things are there on the earth?

            (2).Why are many animals dying out?(Many reasons:animals killed,trees cut down,forests destroyed, air polluted, rivers and lakes damaged.)

            (3). Who is the most dangerous enemy of animals?(Humans)

(4). What should we do to protect plants and animals? (For this question  hold a discussion.)

(5).What measures shall we take ? This is to save ourselves.

Suggestions:   Stop capturing and killing animals.(停止捕杀动物)

             Cleaning our surroundings.（净化我们的环境）

             Stop destroying the forests.（停止破坏森林）

             Plant more trees.（种植树木）

             Start at once with the smallest thing we can do.
