Step 2. Check the homework exercises. Ask the Ss to explain"chemical Rain".
Explain how it is caused and what its results are.
Step 3. Preparations for reading
1).Showing video pictures of animal and plant lives long ago (Dinosaurs,thick forests, clear rivers and seas)
2).Showing another set of video pictures of animal and plant lives nowadays
3).Ask the Ss what is the difference about animal and plant life between millions of years ago and nowadays.

Tell the Ss we are going to read about animals in danger .Read the passage quickly and find the answer to this question: Why are there so few tigers in China today?(Forests have been destoryed;tigers hunted and killed)

1.Get the Ss read it carefully and find out their doubts.
2.Go through the passage with the Ss, Answer the following questions:
(!).How many kinds of living things are there on the earth?
(2).Why are many animals dying out?(Many reasons:animals killed,trees cut down,forests destroyed, air polluted, rivers and lakes damaged.)
(3). Who is the most dangerous enemy of animals?(Humans)
(4). What should we do to protect plants and animals? (For this question hold a discussion.)
(5).What measures shall we take ? This is to save ourselves.
